An immunofluorescence image of primary mouse astrocytes. Gray matter cerebral cortical astrocytes were isolated from mouse pups at postnatal days 1-3, purified, and then cultured on collagen-coated coverslips. The cells appear as flattened cobblestones and are immunoreactive for GFAP (red); DAPI (blue) is used to stain cell nuclei.
